Thank you for engaging anyways!
I think the SC will have to rule something on this one way or another. Otherwise the precedent for state executives to change election rules at the last minute unchecked/unpunished (muh mail in voting!) becomes set.
For point 2, one question I have is what is the method for establishing that unified code? It’s not at the federal congressional level, right? So doesn’t this end up being a convention of states in some way, independent of the federal government? How does something like this get legislated or put into law, since it affects all states, but isn’t in the federal government’s control?
I think beyond just election law, this shows a path for states to unite outside of the federal process and effectively shows the federal government can be rendered useless on matters of inter-state affairs.
Really jumping the shark here, but I feel like a “federalist” body of state legislatures governing the states (unless that really is just the supreme court in today’s terms) is something that could come out of this.
As long as Cindy McCain or Mitt Romney represent a portion of the Republican party, Trump has not conquered it. I would love to be able to agree with you but there is still more work to do. Just look at all the RINOs who scattered when it suddenly looked like Trump had lost in 2020. Only STATES with spines are stepping up now, and sadly some of these states also have RINO’s in their executive and legislative branches.
Hard for me to argue against you not wanting to be exposed while working there and having concern, but my fundamental argument against the smoking bans at the time was that it should have been the private establishment’s choice to ban it.
Just like today I would say if a waitress is worried about COVID, wearing a mask is perfectly fine, just don’t mandate that businesses force me to when I enter.
lol...if someone said “ALL restaurants will be closed because of a virus no more deadly than the flu” 10 years ago would you call that person a moron? I would have, so I won’t hold your comment against you.
This is all just another step toward mandating whatever the government wants for you because it’s a “health” crisis.
It was a tough realization for me this morning...I debated whether I should post it or not but it strikes at the heart of the issue. Usually I make shitposts and satirical memes but this one is dark.
I realized I grab a mask when I leave the house not in fear of the virus but because heaven forbid I walk into a store without one and get arrested.
Good point, I agree to an extent because I have not worn masks in small town establishments without an employee telling me to wear one or feeling threatened by others. That said, said these are very small stores in rural areas.
The small towns don’t fear the local government or police because the locals know it’s a fight for survival.
Sadly, it’s not just liberals hiding from the virus. It’s freedom loving Americans who are also going along with government mandated “health orders”.
Whether someone masks up in fear of the virus or in fear of the government, it’s the same story as what’s in the meme.
Put me in the category of not giving a flying fuck about the virus, but wearing a mask when shopping because the government says I’ll go to jail if I don’t. I have zero faith that my state government and supreme court will do anything to give my rights back. I feel alone in public, but know I am not alone in private. When is enough, enough, and I don’t mean violent altercation. Get your group of friends together and walk into stores without a mask on. Have cookouts in your back yard even if it’s 40° out. Fuck all of this.
Thank you.
