If you read your history, ordinary Germans typically dismissed rumors of the atrocities being committed by the SS and the Wehrmacht. They could not believe people as civilized as themselves could do such things, which is why, after the war, the allies had to drag them out to the camps and force them to see it for themselves.
I'm an atheist, but don't have a problem with Christians, unless they're mouth breathing fundamentalist retards or try to force their religion on me. Most people aren't rational, so it's understandable why many still believe in Christianity. That said, I embrace traditional conservative values, which predate Christianity by centuries, and insomuch as Christianity shares these values, I am aligned with Christians.

I don't think that's true. I've heard stories of English and Irish living illegally in the states and they managed to get amnestied. Just sneak across the border, go to one of the free states, don't do anything stupid while you're there and you should be OK.
