A Conflict of Visions is a rare book in which Sowell delves into the deep philosophical differences that underpin our political differences.
Purity tests are for leftists. Speculating about devious internal motivations is for leftists. All that matters is what arguments a person makes. If what they say is true, I couldn't care less why they are saying it. If what they say is true, it helps to dispel lies regardless of why they are saying it.
