I actually enjoyed reading a lot when I was young. By the end of the first year in high school I learned that so long as I did my class assignments in the textbooks and my homework, no one cared about what I did so long as it was quiet and at my desk. So I would do all the assignments for the week on Monday and the rest of the week I could be free to just read other books. It's amazing how much information is exempted from the standard education of knowing what happened through human history. They quit teaching about the ice age and stopped museum visits by middle school or 6th grade.
