Steve Beshear was a thief who took an already struggling pension system and destroyed it to prop up obamacare and rollout massive medicaid extensions. Then surprise surprise we couldn't afford them and when Bevin tried to fix it he was suddenly the bad guy for "Taking away healthcare and pensions"
And all that bullshit with Chuck Grindle I took personally. I worked for the man and he was one of the most competent and hard working leaders I've ever worked under. He saved the state millions just in contract renegotiations with Microsoft and McAfee so people can suck my nuts complaining that we paid him $300k/yr.

I'm 100% behind this. I didn't lose my job and never missed a day of work. So therefore me and anyone like me don't need the check. If you can prove you were put out of work then you do. That would cut the fat off of the final cost big time and help eliminate all of the checks that were sent to dead people and cashed and all the ones requested by scammers overseas

I'll agree with the student loan crisis being something that needs fixed, just not on the way people seem to think. The problem here is that student loans are predatory.
You go through years of middle and high school being told that not going to college is tantamount to failure in life. So everyone decides to go to college. Then the government comes along and all but guarantees funding for anyone through loans and the colleges respond to this almost infinite demand created by high school and almost infinite supply of potential money through the government and raise prices at some of the most disgusting rates I've ever seen.
Next thing you know you get millions of worthless degrees and majors being sold at a premium to susceptible kids who were told by everyone they were supposed to be able to trust that they HAVE to do this if they want to have any value.
I believe the students are victims here. But bailing out the loans isn't the solution. The solution is to let the entire structure fail and rebuild from the ashes. If you forgive student loans then it just means the taxpayers just had all of our money funneled into these indoctrination camps that modern colleges have become and there's suddenly no pressure to change. You can start the process all over again.
If you restructure how student loans are given out and how much they will pay for specific degrees and what criteria they have to meet then you'll see these colleges come crumbling down. Useless degrees will stop being offered, useless professors will stop being paid, and you'll see colleges maybe start being worth a damn again.
I made my bed like so many others with student loans. I don't want forgiven for them, I want the system that walked me into hell torn down and torched.
