I don’t think it’s so much that if there is a men’s team they must have a women’s team... but just total funding.

My son is a soccer player. He goes to the large state university. Since they spend such a large amount of money on their men’s football and basketball programs, and must fund women’s sports equally... it means that something has to go so there isn’t any money to fund a men’s soccer team.

He had opportunities to play at some smaller D3 schools (but decided the state U was a better fit for him) and probably would not have made the state U D1 team even if it existed. But that’s how it was explained to us by his soccer club college recruitment advisor... due to Title 9 requirements, some schools had to sacrifice their men’s soccer programs since football is far more popular and makes money, so that’s where the bulk of the funding goes.

I agree. Our governor shut everything down again not long after the election. At first, it was only supposed to be thru Dec. 14. (So no Thanksgiving with elderly in-laws and extended family who are afraid of the virus). Then, of course, numbers were still bad so he had to extend it until Jan 4. (So now no Xmas with family either). Then on the 3rd he announced that things still bad so he had to extend it until Jan 11.

I’m just waiting for the decree Sunday night that suddenly things are looking good and we can start opening up again. The fact that no one here notices the manipulation drives me mad.

I’ve been wondering if the only good thing about this election result would be that COVID would suddenly become a very manageable problem. Keeping everything massively shut down is killing the economy and no president can govern or win approval when people are suffering.

My governor put us back on lockdown not long after the election. At first until Jan 4, then extended until Jan 11. I’m just waiting to see if there will be some miraculous new downturn in cases so he can decree things start opening up. And then, boom, suddenly it’s all due to Biden and the democrats that they economy is looking up and life is getting back to normal.

I do think there’s a good chance this strategy is gonna backfire on them. I live in a super solid blue area. People are terrified of this virus. I know people who have barely left their homes since last March. You can’t spend all that time convincing people that there’s a good chance they will catch it (and die, or spread it and kill people) if they dare to set foot in a restaurant or take a solo walk without a mask and then just pump out a few reports that say “oh hey, look it’s not as bad as we thought”.

It will be interesting to see them try to undo the paranoia they’ve instilled and/or enforce mandatory vaccinations on all the people I know who either just flat out didn’t vaccinated their kids or did it on a very delayed schedule.

Looks like the photo was taken in maybe spring or summer... at least, from the trees outside with green leaves.

I was walking my dog yesterday. We are under a new lockdown and increased restrictions here in WA.

I don’t wear one when I’m walking, just me and my dog. I always cross the street or move to give 6 ft (which is what the actual “rule” is from our governor... no mask required outside if you have 6’ social distance).

It’s crazy to me... I’d say probably 90% of people I see are wearing masks when they’re out walking alone. People walking or riding bikes with their kids all “masked up”. I crossed paths with a woman and her son (both wearing masks)... due to where we were I couldn’t just cross the street, so I moved to one far edge of the sidewalk... I can’t quite describe how she reacted... she went to the other far side of the sidewalk, they kept moving but she sort of turned her back to me, lowered her head, shielded her son from me with her body. I felt it so viscerally... her fear, like I was a dangerous threat to her and her son, just because I was outside without a mask. I really do worry where our society is going to end up after all this. People really have lost all sense of reality.

I have a small glimmer of hope when I come across someone else without a mask. We give each other the social distance, I hate how that’s become so normal to me, but us unmasked always seem to give each other a smile, like we are the few in this area still able to communicate friendliness to a stranger.

I certainly agree that it’s always worth poking around to see if things are on the up and up! A truly honest process should always welcome scrutiny from all sides.

I guess you’ll have to forgive me feeling pretty bleak about it. I’ve just watched it get more and more one sided over the years. I’ve lived here for 20 years... while it was always a very strongly Democrat and liberal area... life was normal, people essentially agreed to disagree. Being a conservative or republican might find you on the receiving end of some liberal lecturing but not worrying about physical harm. There was never this level of outright hatred and demonizing of the other side.

I so hope that Sidney has the goods that she claims to have. I think it really will take something jaw dropping, akin to a 2x4 to the head to knock most of these people back into reality. And even then I worry that some of them still won’t believe it, no matter how overwhelming the evidence.

I live in the city of Seattle. I don’t know how to explain it other than they are just so... idk - partisan, conditioned, brainwashed... to support the Democrat party and knee jerk assume that Republicans are all rich, evil racists. It doesn’t matter who is on the ticket... it could be Satan himself or a ham sandwich, if there’s a ‘D’ next to the name thats the one getting the vote.

There are huge homeless camps in my very expensive and trendy neighborhood. I see people organizing on next door to go down there with portable batteries so that these poor down on their luck folks can charge their phones. And then in the very next post a bunch of people wondering why there seems to be such an increase in breaks ins. It boggles the mind.

While I would love to think Trump could win here I honestly think there’s a better chance he actually won California (and I think that is still prob a long shot) than possibly won WA. While most people I talk to don’t have anything good to say about Inslee I’m sure that the vast majority of them still voted for him because... Democrat. This place is lost. And I can’t wait to leave.

Yup. I live there. I feel like I’m completely undercover. No one knows how I feel, I kinda nod and change the subject when it comes up. There’s no getting thru to most of them.

It’s crazy, most people here have no idea what is going on. They are all happy and relieved that “it’s over and Biden won”. They don’t have any clue about the seriousness, and evidence of the fraud because the media they consume not only keeps it from them but the little bit they do report is that’s it’s all a crazy conspiracy. I do fear what’s gonna happen here when it (hopefully all comes out and is proven). Even people that are smart, professional people are just completely brainwashed that Trump is some kind of racist, Nazi dictator.

Have plans to leave in about a year and a half. Can’t wait!

I live in a place where republicans have little chance of ever winning. I vote for them, even though I know they have no chance. I have to think that even they know they have no chance. There are lots of local races where the only choice is a Democrat running unopposed... or 2 dems running against each other.

What those republicans or rinos in red states need is to be in a position where they know they have no chance. Those mink handcuffs are comfy and I think they are ok with their position as long as they still get to go to the statehouse, or to DC and play at being legitimate opposition.

We need a new party. I’m still a registered Democrat... because that’s what I was when I was young and naive... and now because if I changed to republican I worry that I and my family would be vilified by the oh so “tolerant” people that surround me.

I’ve got only a year and a half before I can leave this place... there was a time I was looking forward to moving to a different area and registering as a republican. I’m still looking forward to leaving, but if the GOP allows this disaster to happen I’ll never vote for anyone with an R next to their name again.

I’ve had thoughts along those lines as well. It would be absolutely crazy if it turns out to be true. If it does, I just hope they were really watching and documenting everything and can prove it beyond any doubt.

The trials will be like OJ x1000!

Yes, but that makes the voter turnout % lower than if it was based on registered voters. And I just don’t know if there is any official way to calculate this.

I mean... what I keep getting told is that calculating the voter turnout % based on register voter is not how it’s done. It’s based on voting age population. And I don’t know what the correct answer is. And I suspect it may be out of line with past elections even if it is to be calculated on voting age population.

Whenever I try to bring up the crazy high voter turnout... I’ve been told by lib friends that the voter turnout % is not calculated based on the total number of registered voters, but on the total number of voting age population (some of whom may not be registered to vote)

I just don’t know what the definitive answer is. I swear I’m not a concern troll! I believe there was all kinds of fraud and in this election... but this the excuse I get whenever I try to bring this up.

And 98% is absolutely nuts! So even if it were based on voting age population would it still be in the high 80s? Which would also be statistically really unusual.

Oh wow, I hope not. I thought that they had managed to collect and destroy them since someone out there recognized the problem pretty quickly. If they tried to fine them I hope they told them to get lost.

Plus, who brings the people that have huge apple orchards and millions of apples... MORE apples?? Couldn’t he have brought them, idk, salmon or something from western Washington lol!

And just for the record, I also hate the way he says “Washingtonians”, is drives me crazy for some reason 😂😂

He also potentially caused an apple maggot infestation in Chelan and Douglas counties when he visited there on a goodwill visit after the devastating fires back in September. He picked apples from his tree at the gov mansion in Olympia (Thurston county and part of the apple maggot quarantine zone) and brought them as a gift when he visited out there and started passing them around.

I get that most people don’t really think about these kinds of regulations... but wtf he’s the governor of our state. Was there not one knowledgeable person on his staff to say “hey, no, we can’t do this.”

But he said he’s sorry... so it’s ok. 🙄

I don’t think it necessarily has to be hundreds or thousands involved. I read an article yesterday (which I was sure I bookmarked and now can’t find since I’ve been saving a bazillion things lately and I’m not organized, lol) about the consent decree from 1982 that has hamstrung republican poll watchers. It only expired in 2018... so I think this is basically the first election in 36 years that the republican poll watchers have (or should have had!) real unrestricted access. At least if I’ve understood it correctly. I’d never even heard of this thing before and I’m well above 36 years old... and someone made a post on this site about it also earlier today.

I guess my feeling is... I think the corruption is just so ingrained most of the small fries on the lower level probably don’t even realize what they are doing is wrong. That’s why it’s easy to get them to do it. It’s just always how it’s been done. Almost 2 generations have gone by with this in place, entire political careers have come and gone. At this point I think in some of these real Democrat machine controlled cities this is just business as usual. Problem this year is that they had to do it on a much bigger scale and under much more intense scrutiny.

Some of them have to know though. And if it can be proven then those people ought to spend a long time in prison.

Have a friend whose kid just graduated from there, and apparently is one of the few who actually wants to be a pilot. This was the first class that got in from the lottery. I think before that you had to test and/or interview. I think a lot of parents looked at it as a way to get their kid a private school-like STEM focused education without the cost (since this is a public high school). I didn’t even know about this school until my friends hopeful pilot kid was applying via lottery, but then found out a couple other people were trying to get their kids (smart and capable kids, but no specific interest in aviation) in there. So, yeah, I think because it was apparently somewhat elite and selective... can’t have that!

Yes, Raisbeck. Although admission is now thru lottery and not interest or involvement in aviation.

I live in Seattle. I‘ve been a closeted Trump supporter since he first announced he was running. No one knows this except my significant other. Since 2016 I’ve been surrounded by people who seemed to lose their minds over his election. Just constant denigration of anything he did or said (or was falsely reported to have done or said). They all supported impeachment, believed Russia hoax, etc.

And total compliance with lockdown, masking and support for the “protests”.... at least at first. I went to a small (12, how risky lol!!) party a few weeks ago. Every. Single. Person. was talking about leaving the city as soon as they could. There was nothing good to say about the mayor, city council, Inslee... I’d never heard anything like this before in Seattle. I don’t know if it will get them to vote R... but for the first time ever I have some hope that at least a few of them might do it secretly if they were willing to voice those opinions publicly.
