The electrical grid isn’t failing due to usage at the moment. I hate the wind farms in West Texas with a passion but I also have solar panels on my home.
Stop hating to hate. We all believed it was about the green energy screwing us at first but it’s not. It was everyone involved not protecting the natural gas needed to keep our plants running plus a lack of winterizing the equipment after they were warned after 2011.
We are using way less energy now than in the summer and our grid failed. ERCOT knew this shit was going to happen and they failed to act.
I’m in Fort Worth having to boil fucking water because somehow we don’t have protected grids for our water treatment plants and backup generators. Probably because our water dept spent our money on a stupid project called Panther Island.
Everything about this is corrupt government. Abbott coming down hard now on ERCOT. You ever seen the reports from the last storm. He knew fucking better and ignored it too.
Add to the fact that has pricing has sky rocketed and we will be looking at higher bills. One of my main suppliers already got told to expect a gas bill 5-6 times higher than normal.
They forced him to shutdown all week and now he’s looking at a $70k gas bill. They offered a payment plan for him. Fucking disgrace.
Do not thank Gas. Atmos fucked us with their lack of preparation for the snow storms. They left our pipes unprotected in west Texas and then couldn’t provide the amount of gas needed to keep the electrical plants running.
ERCOT and Southwest Region royally screwed us too but everyone knew this was coming and did nothing. Someone already linked on here to a 21 page section detailing how to fix the issues from 2011 but they did nothing.
I guess I am Rich now. I’m in Fort Worth and a long stretch all the way to my parents and grand parents has never lost power.
Major businesses that are never out of power are currently shut down around here. Friends and family in much higher cost homes are also out.
Deregulation lowered our prices drastically in TX so shut the hell up about your leftist government regulation BS. The problem is we let the government of TX invest in all this BS green energy out in west Texas instead of real plants that actually work.
And we got hit with a once in a lifetime winter surge.
