They are only the 'world standard' because people won't leave and they believe them to be. Twitter isn't cool anymore. There is nothing special about them, other than maybe being tied into US intelligence.
Other social media companies have come and gone, twitter is just as susceptible, if everyone would just leave. They don't have a mandate, and don't deserve to be the world standard for anything. They're toxic and it will be a good day, the day they're abandoned. They hate you.
If the option was Twitter vs. no social media, I think w/o it people would be better off.

Democrats fight viciously to change the future, and the GOP weakly tries to maintain the same.
But 'the same' sucks because of all the times in the past that the democrats pushed, and the GOP tried to maintain. The democrats push for a foot, and the GOP gives them a few inches. Over time, we are miles from home and exactly where they want us to be, because there is no pushing back. The GOP casts no vision for the way things should be; only precedent and maintenance.
We also need fighters who will viciously try to change the future of this country, the status quo sucks.

I see both sides of the argument. They are just terrible for our country and treat people like trash. Companies and governments will follow the crowds. It's time for something else to be cool, Twitter just feels old and boomery now anyway.
