Absolutely, do msg me if you're passing thru!
Just FYI, what we always do on our road trips is to completely avoid cities, Interstates, etc. whenever we can. We take State Highways as much as is humanly possible. Scenery is better, people are nicer; we try to hit all the little historic towns & villages etc.
Takes longer, naturally, but we take that into acct and it's more fun for us. Just something to consider if you're concerned about riots - I mean, uh, 'peaceful protests!' lol
Y'all come on, we'll feed you & let you rest up if we're here & not in FL or camping or whatever. We have several family trips tentatively planned this summer but who knows if or when they'll happen. China Plague has some areas shut down & I leave it up to my grown children to tell me what I'm doing and where I'm going lol.
Yeah, possums and armadillos are dumb af lmao, poor creatures!
You wouldn't have an issue if you moved to LA, and as far as hurricanes just move about midway up or farther - most we ever get are some wind & rain but not definitely not hurricane force. Every several years we may get gale-force winds, but move tables/chairs/etc and secure them; that's about all it takes.
That said, TN is a beautiful state. I've never lived there altho I do have some 19th C family history there, and have visited as part of an extended road trip.
Southerners aren't like E or W coast people - "Southern Hospitality" is a saying because it's true! : )
We have less racial problems than other areas of the country because we've all been intermingled since time immemorial. We're more segregated by financial status than race, and all areas are pretty well mixed. It solely depends on what one can afford.
Come on down! Just don't bring any liberal, leftist relatives with you please.
I'll have it ready on the stove, patriot!
My husband and sons love hunting season partly because I usually have a hearty meal waiting for them after their morning hunt, unless I'm hunting too.
We live on venison for the most part - can't remember the lst time I bought beef from a store.
After I read your original comment, I looked him up & read half a dozen articles about him.
Amazing...got away with calling himself a 'combat vet' because he was working as a contractor during wartime, forged a diploma from some dive school, plus a whole long list of other things.
My first husband was a VN vet - 2 tours, 2 purple hearts, etc. He'd have stroked out seeing someone use our Flag as a tablecloth. He's gone now, many years gone - but I immediately thought of him when I saw that.
I'm in the Deep South, at the LA -TX border.
I can't grow rhubarb, celery, etc here but practically anything that isn't strictly a 'cold weather' plant will grow. I might could grow celery, but haven't tried. We're kind of overloaded as it is.
Some years our garden is fantastic, others not so great.
I like coons well enough, they're in our woods because I've seen sign of them but have never had one come up to the house that i'm aware of. Possums are a different story!
Abortion has always been a thing - they just go about it openly, more frequently, and with much less risk to the woman's life today. They used to use certain plants, potions, throwing themselves down stairs, back-alley or 'clothes hanger' abortions, among other things.
Most women aren't willing to literally risk their own lives to get an abortion, which is why it was rarer back in the olden days. Now they do it & celebrate it as a badge of...something, but definitely not of 'honor.'
Nothing is more foreign to me than the thought of killing a child who is in (or out of) my womb. Most mothers would face a hungry tiger to protect her children from death.
Ha! Been there. Altho I will eat squirrel it isn't my favorite by a long shot. Too much like rats in behavior & biology lol.
Might consider netting for your potted fruit trees - it worked on my blueberry bushes altho it's a pita to put on/take off.
Our apple & pear trees are too big to cover with netting but so far we arent losing too much to the critters.
Got a good sized garden, surrounded by electric fencing to keep out the deer, dogs, cats, squirrels, coons etc.
The bird feeders are another story tho...freakin squirrels, they love the feeders because of the sunflower seeds.
lmao at 'less unpopular' - translates to 'yeah everyone hates PedoJoe but not quiiiiite as much as they hate the Witch!'
