I'm not sure if you've noticed but we don't have two separate parties. With the exception of a few house members, no one in Congress wants Trump in office. It gets in the way of them making money. It's all a dog and pony show.

Cruz especially. He knows Trump supporters like seeing him on the attack, "Lion Ted" is just building a base and a brand for a 2024 run. Lindsay is just as bad - lots of open threats of investigation to get Republicans to shut up, then nothing happens.
