You also have to look at the states where people were killed by firearms used by criminals, as you mentioned, versus accidentally shooting themselves or getting shot while hunting. Alaska is the highest death rate by firearm according to this link but that obviously isn't via gangs, most likely hunting accidents.

Take away shootings by criminals and gangs, and gun violence in this country goes down to basically nothing.

Everyone always cites Australia or a European country who have low gun death rates, but when you cite that cities and states in the US have some of the highest gun deaths in the world while also having the strictest gun laws they can't believe it.

Now we need to compare COVID deaths and hospitalizations with the level of restrictions in each state.

Anytime the federal government handles anything across all the states it's a complete shitshow yet for some reason people think that because it's about voting things will be different now.

I can think of two immediate points why this is terrible:

1. States with lower populations will run elections differently than others so forcing all states to do the same thing is fucking stupid.

2. Anyone in power at the federal level could (and will and have done) change the rules to help themselves get reelected.
