Except it's not. NC is fucked up in that you are allowed to open carry and you are allowed to protest but cannot do both at the same time.

N.C.G.S. 14-277.2 https://www.ncleg.gov/EnactedLegislation/Statutes/HTML/BySection/Chapter_14/GS_14-277.2.html

I saw a video earlier this year of a Raleigh PD officer telling a guy open carrying at an event near the governor's mansion earlier this year that he had a right to open carry and had a right to take part in 1st amendment activities but he couldn't do both of them at the same time.

Unconstitutional as fuck, in my opinion, but its been law here for a long time and either hasn't been challenged or hasn't been challenged successfully.

Someone is angling to be the Silver Fox's VP in four years. :D

I just pray people continue to watch NC and hopefully someone is looking into the possibility of fraud in the governor's race. Something is fishy about cooper's reelection.

An extra sternly worded letter. Maybe even with an exclamation point!

I live in the next city over, about 20 minutes away. Sadly its true. I saw the news break on a local "crimefighting" group page within about an hour of it happening. I believe they're having a candlelit prayer vigil tonight on the courthouse steps in Wilson.

Truly some fucked up shit and that mother fucker that did it deserves the type of justice the average person doesn't have the stomach for.

It would certainly be interesting to watch him shove this shit back down their throats, my governor in particular. They'd have to find a legal pathway to insist they can federalize state elections during a declared emergency and I have not the faintest clue if that pathway even exists. Though he could once again take directly from the democrats and just conjure the path and reasoning from thin air and call it science.

I don't really care whether its delayed or not, though I agree it probably shouldn't be pushed back much. I am much more interested in there being action taken to properly secure the election.

I imagine he's just screwing with them which is glorious in its own right. I just pray they do have some plan in place to secure the vote, as I'm pretty convinced shit is gonna go south in a hurry if not. Truthfully, it's probably gonna go south either way as neither side is going to be all that willing to believe the other side legitimately won.

According to my understanding the date is set in law, not the constitution. A lot of governor's are using muh kung pao lungs to activate broad emergency powers that lets them suspend state law and according to them even constitutionally guaranteed rights. I haven't read emergency management law since I was in undergrad but I can't imagine that the president wouldn't still have pretty sweeping authority to temporarily suspend or alter most laws and could most likely make a sound argument he can temporarily suspend constitutionally protected activities.

It might be possible that GEOTUS could move back the election by several weeks, or more maybe, and maybe even give control of polling places to the Marshals or Army or whoever "for safety, to ensure strict guidelines regarding the handling of ballots is followed to prevent them spreading COVID-19 and causing a third wave."

Pretty much. Had to do it the day the requirement went live here. Went to check out a large gun store/range I'd never been to before and was stopped at the door with the "do you have a mask, we're requiring all our customers to wear a mask." Told her to have a nice day, turned around and walked back to my car.

We're on the "honor" system for whether we qualify for an exception and citations cannot be written to individuals it would seem. Enforcement is aimed squarely at further disrupting businesses as now they have to navigate serving customers while also trying to insist that people wear masks and then deal with the inevitable people, such as myself, who will be exempted.

It continues to be about wielding power and making us peasants recognize the authority of Cooper's crown.
