Dank is a great storyteller and his madlads videos are great listening. He has lots of good ones, but probably my favorites are about the "Hairy Houdini", the orangutan at the San Diego zoo that could escape pretty much any enclosure, and Vlad the Impaler, because Deus Vult.
Like I said, that is you, and I don't give a fuck what you do.. For me, that young girl has a name - Wendy - and she just followed some guy that she was smitten with into that house. She wouldn't even harm a bug, let alone a human being. If I took her life because I was too much of a coward to at least identify the target and determine if it was a threat before I shot, I don't think I would be able to live with myself. If you can, that is fine I guess.
. Like I said, we all set our different standards and I am willing to put my own life in just a little bit more peril if it means I don't kill anyone that doesn't deserve to die. This is what I do. I don't care what you do. Just remember, there are two sides to the coin you mentioned. Yes you maximize your own safety if you shoot first before even identifying the target, but what if you kill some young girl? Could you live with yourself after that? I couldn't.
Nope. You seem to be under the impression that I will sit their for hours agonizing over what to do. Target identification happens in an instant. Shine the light and see two dumb kids, hold fire. See some guy dressed all in black and holding duct tape and a knife, smoke him.
That is the dilemna. You make the assumption that the intruder means you harm and are prepared to use lethal force immediately. That is all fine and good. I personally set a higher threshold before I resort to violence.. Even with all of the checks I have in place, I would still have the tactical advantage. I would see them before they saw me and my weapon would be drawn and ready before they even knew what was happening. If it is just some dumb kids, I will hold them at gunpoint and call the cops, their parents, or both. If I determine that it is some violent criminal intent on hurting someone in the house, I will unload a mag into him, then put in the backup mag in just in case he is still moving.
No, I live in the real world and 99% of the time, if someone breaks into your house, they aren't there to harm you. In all likelihood, they are doing their very best to avoid contact with you. . In most states, once it reaches that point, you have a legal right to use lethal force. You are well within your rights and if you shoot, the law is typically on your side.. All fine and good. All I am saying is that I personally will use a little more discretion before I open fire. I don't want to kill anyone that doesn't mean me or mine harm.
As long as they are here legally, and believe in the right things, they are welcome in my book.
