New Yorkers knew that OTHER New Yorkers would be saying things to them about not wearing a mask or not wearing it properly, citizen-policing them, and they were RIGHT. And I think there are MILLIONS of people across the country, certainly lots of females who are self-conscious about how weird and unattractive they look in a mask, or who are weirded out by seeing everyone in public with them, and needing to be paranoid about getting too close to anyone, so they just avoid all of that by simply ordering their groceries and dinners online to be delivered to them.
