This is why I was saying that we need to get rid of first-past-the-post voting. If we get rid of that, then the Patriot party will be viable in at least some elections. As long as first-past-the-post voting remains though, it will always just be Democrats and Republicans

I think as long as we have first-past-the-post voting, then only two parties will ever be viable in any given election.

Changing the voting system should be the first step to ensure that other parties get a chance.

As for whether that involves ranked-choice or some other system in particular, I don't know. But if Trump's party / the patriot party is ever going to be successful, then the first thing that needs to change is first-past-the-post voting.

Otherwise, the party will be dead in the water as all the opponents of Democrats will vote for whatever party they think has the best chance to defeat the Democrats, and right now that will be the Republicans. They will be too afraid of throwing their vote away to vote third party.
