Yeah. That’s just what the old Victorians said before they brutally executed someone.

You could be right. But I have no faith in human nature as a general rule.

He surrounded himself and his family with very off beat musicians and very odd bohemian people. He might not have been a hippy but you can be sure everyone else around him was.. drug taking, all night sessions, and promiscuity are part of the music world especially back then. He could not exist in a vacuum. I cannot see how he could have separated that lifestyle from his own and not be influenced by it. He was a highly creative person. But highly creative people can be very temperamental and hard to live with. The pretentiousness of the industry is also something that rubs off on the children of famous people. look at Hollywood. Doesn’t matter how good the parents intentions the children will be spoilt and end up entitled. It’s like a self fulfilling prophesy.

Possibly. However I have experienced a hippy community first hand. Very similar types of families and bohemian lifestyles like Zappa but in west cork in Ireland. They are cultured hippies that come over from England and buy farmland in the country but they don’t consider themselves hippies even though everyone else does. They think they are unique. They are usually just running away from something. They have a very weird community within a community and do not mix with the locals. They tolerate the locals and the locals begrudgingly tolerate them, but they don’t usually mix. When I was young I had friends in the community. I went to a few of their parties and it was nuts. There was no real barriers set between children and adults. They both attended the same drug fueled parties that were held in the middle of nowhere with music systems and strobe lights. Kids and adults, and half the kids doing mushrooms and cocaine, and the adults smoking pot and talking absolute shite. There was also a lot of abuse that went on there as well because the community was so insular. A lot of partner swapping, unsuitable relationships and even child abuse. All the kids seemed too wise for their years until I realized they were not wise at all. They were just imitating their parents. A lot of Their parents were vegan type pseudo intellectuals and they were imprinting that pretentiousness into their children. It was very unsettling. The children were not shown any discipline at all. It was all feelings and music and art. They were allowed to do whatever they wanted. It was also very difficult for the children to adapt to life outside of this environment which made them more insulated and weird when they were older and then they had kids and now those kids are inheriting two generations of a subculture that only alienates them from the outside world.

I hear ya. there are still plenty of fan boys and fan girls who think the sun shines out of these people’s arseholes. You would be surprised. The kinda people who completely misinterpret the lyrics of a song to revolve around them and then act as if the artist had formed some kind of symbiotic connection with them personally and saved them from drink or depression, or some other such nonsense, at a very critical period of their lives. You hear it all the time. A friend of mine before was like that with Bowie. I love Bowie’s music but have no opinion on Bowie as a person. I am indifferent. He was obsessed with him to such an extent it was very annoying.

God was so much cooler back then. What’s that all about?

I have no idea what you are talking about.

Maybe I am being too harsh on hm. The truth is I don’t respect any actor or any musician. I like their music but I don’t respect them. I only respect people that I meet in real and can get to know on a personal level.

Explains why he created overly complicated musical scores. He wanted to impress on his father that music could be just as objective as science. It isn’t objective at all so he had to create his own form of music, which also turned out not to be objective. Very interesting.

I used to think that transgenders were just screwed up and had sympathy for them Now I think they are all pedos and my sympathy for them has turned to anger.

Yes. He was a patriot. And conservatives need to stop using his name as a derogatory label. We need to reclaim McCarthyism as a patriotic ideal rather than a witch hunt.

Yeah but violence wasn’t what won out. It was the constitution. It was also self defense. They were defending their way of life rather that invading territory. That is all I meant. But it was dumb. All war is violence.
