It depends on your perception and how deep you want to dig. Overall, comparing the two is as unproductive as comparing potatoes to batteries: both can generate electricity but.

Also, the USA's regime, both political and economic, if not perverted is the truest form of so-called "communism". One of these days I'll finish my essay on the topic (it's not at the top of the priority list atm) and publish it but in short (even going back to early days): a) everyone has an equal opportunity b) credit exists and is easy to obtain and finally c) workers' conditions have been increasingly improving giving them an opportunity to invest and become the owners of means of production themselves (of course it takes time).

For the last 70 years, if not longer, the only people who are poor are the ignorant and misinformed (many immigrants fall in that category), the utterly dumb, and the lazy.

If you started investing (savings are investments) with your first job (should be at the latest in your early teens cutting lawns or whatever) and worked an honest job for about 20 years while steadily putting away (investing) an amount of money, you'd be a well off middle-class family by your late 30s-early 40s.

So, in other words, you still work as you would under theoretical "communism", you still end up "owning the means of production", and you still "get compensated mainly based on your needs according to your capabilities", voila - better than communism.

But, this approach that is available to anyone has been subverted on many levels as most young people were led to believe that a family is a bad thing and trades are beneath them, the rewards are instant, the inherited rewards must be redistributed (perversion of pretty much everything on every level), and whatever else cancerous bullshit that nouveau-feudal lords-wanna-bes (obamas, clintons, schumers, schiffs, pelosis, zucks, and so on) spew under the guise of equality and social justice with marxism, leninism, maoism, frankfurt school or the derivatives of all of them being the guiding principles. The goal is still the same - not the ideals that so-called "socialism" wants people to believe in but nothing more than the mere redistribution of power: from royalty in europe to bureaucracy, and from representative republic to the same bureaucracy in the USA. Pretty fucking simple.

Because it is. They've never changed their collective perception from that of a peon to a freeman and hence they reverted back to feudalism but replaced the landlords with bureaucrats.

When I lived in Belgium, I was simply flabbergasted by Belgians pride in their Belgian bureaucracy that outdid the Soviet one. But, that's the way the world goes, everyone develops on their own time, we should help them shed off the invasion though, still.

Bad idea

Why is that a bad idea? For whom? Do you also think "It's OK to be White" or "Islam is right about women" are bad ideas then?

The netsec scene is still the netsec scene, it just all depends on where you look, still tons of forums out there uninfected by the bluehair disease, although I do share the sentiment and would love to see a reversal. It's now just became irritating that the "tech" community's expectation of everyone to be left of Trotsky in the perception of the world.

The Soviets used Vietnam

It started long before Vietnam and even before the Soviets. Have you even heard of the Frankfurt school, the 1890s "progressive" movement, the goddamn French revolution for Christ's sakes?

If it were up to me, I'd reach out to the campaign to help coordinate efforts and get funding for some professional work done but it's not. ;)

Lacks the capability of pasting images directly (instead of save/upload cycle), unfortunately. Same as "maga.host".

I grew up in the USSR and he was absolutely hated by the soviets. Which to me only means he did something right and deserves lots of respect.

And what needs to happen for this to go away: https://i.imgur.com/oDoCYet.png ?
