Look here at this passage from the beginning chapters of Genesis, which explains angelic beings coming down to earth called "Sons of God" who mate with human females. This mating created "mighty men which were of old, men of renown.", who are referred to as "Nephilim". If these beings were real, and were actually mighty men of old, wouldn't it make sense that humans would pass down stories and legends of them??
