Same here. We also grow and preserve a lot of food. I won't eat any raw veg unless I know the farm it comes from. Thankfully we live in a farming town. We get our eggs from our neighbors (at least until we get our coop built). Locker beef just down the road a mile. Local butcher 2 miles up the road in the other direction. My salad greens come from the farm next door. There's an alpaca farm about 15 miles from here that I want to try, and I need to find a source for local honey. We eat a lot of apples that are grown right here. Honey Crisp and Pink Lady apples around 65 cents per pound from the fruit stand nearby.
On the topic of farmers markets:
Check with the market owners. Some require the people selling it be the actual people who grow it. Other markets are full of vendors buying from distribution centers and selling it at the market. There's no telling where the food they're selling comes from.
