Riots and protests are two different things and shouldn't be compared.
Trump should respond to Nancy Pelosi calling for no debates and Joe Biden saying he will debate, with telling Joe he can bring as many notes as he wants but also state that he won't be using any himself.
I don't think they are planning on running Biden, but they also can't chance that the VP pick who they actually want to be President won't be picked if he was deemed unfit or another reason before the Dem convention.
This way, he's nominated, chooses his VP pick .. "something" happens to him to force him to drop out of the race and the party backs the approved VP pick vs. going back to another primary or another convention to vote again.
I think the White House should put fake mail in ballots on all of the chairs in the briefing room, addressing them to the reporters that will be there, to the reporters that are unable to attend due to social distancing on what would have been their chairs, and maybe one to someone that typically doesn't attend. This would visually demonstrate and can supplement talking points that can follow to show the difference between mail-in voting versus absentee ballots and force them to report on and draw attention to the stunt.
They need to do something during the White House press briefing that is visual because the message is open to get ignored or misinterpreted when it's said that "Absentee voting is good, mail-in ballots are bad".
Even a simple animation showing someone purposefully asking for a ballot, and receiving their ballot in the mail on one side and then a picture of a state's entire voter roll followed by millions of ballots getting addressed, labeled and mailed to every house on the right.
The room should be asked if they understand the difference and offer to clarify if needed so if they report otherwise they can be called out like Trump would when asked the same ignorant questions over and over.
