I agree with much of what you say, but you're still wrong, unfortunately. My own GF and mother of my beautiful baby girl is a mexican DACA recipient. Obviously I'm glad she is here, and I do believe we should find a way to incorporate DACA recipients at least, as it was their parents that committed the crime not them, and most are indeed the kind of immigrants we want. But empathy unchecked by reason is more dangerous than no empathy at all.

There is one simple but compelling reason why you cannot do this for all illegal immigrants. Incentives. Human nature. Human beings respond to incentives, it's simply a law of human action. Doing so would incentivize massive waves of future illegals hoping for the same treatment, and we cannot house and feed the world's poor, unfortunately. Ideas like yours completely ignore incentives and human nature. Its empathy unchecked by reason, and it's dangerous. Your heart is in the right place I know, but we cannot do this thing without causing more harm than good.

Not that day they didn't. But they did literally bomb the place in the 70's, I believe it was, and the folks who did it are left wing heroes to this day. Look, we're all hypocrites, that's just human nature, but most people can see the truth through the hyperbole. This was a truly mostly peaceful protest by some angry folks who got themselves too riled up and stormed a building, hurting only themselves and their own cause in the process. They didn't blow anything up, shoot anyone, burn anything down, take any hostages, or even attempt to occupy the building. They ran around taking pictures mostly, realised things had gone too far, and left. Big frigging deal.
