Good part is around Cookeville (but the university is getting kind of koolaid hair ideas) or Crossville (more of a retirement area), Monterey (very small town feel) or Sparta or in between.
These areas are in between Nashville and Knoxville so metro far enough away but close enough if you have to, have very rural areas, lakes, mountains, foothills, and forests that are thick. American Ginseng grows natively here too. I love this place.

Look, I was living in abject poverty. No heat, no a/c, no food, looking at no roof, not that very long ago and then I turned a corner and things changed. Not like wow overnight, but one thing. I found food. Someone smiled at me.
It sounds dumb, but it works and each small thing incrementally changes you and your perception of what is around you.
