Not sure about other states, but when I went to early vote (NY state) they printed the ballot right in font of you. The paper had some weight to it and was about 13 to 14 inches tall and 18 to 20 inches wide. The paper was perforated at one end where they record the ballet number and rip it off. They ran the paper through a laser printer that can do duplex printing. The paper may have been a custom order since it had the perforations and had a little weight to it. The printer was just a wide format laser printer that can do duplex printing.
