Anecdotal evidence, but my friend and I were discussing this a few days ago. We both had severe flu symptoms for 1.5 weeks.

We initially thought this as well, But.. Two of my friends and myself (none of us had a flu vaccination) went to a bar in February for a birthday celebration. The 3 of us all got sick with very similar severe flu like symptoms. BUT one of my friends GF(who lives with him) and my GF who lives with me, both of which Did have the flu vaccines did not get sick. The 3rd friend lives alone, so that is the only anecdotal evidence I have to contribute to this conversation.

I'm also a heavy drinker and smoker in my late 30's and didn't experience any noticeable increase in respiratory issues above the last time I had the flu a few years back.

Lets not forget that it was(is?) flu season. Just playing devils advocate

Great Post. I didn't know about the EMTLA. Evidently thanks to EMTLA, 55% of U.S. emergency care now goes uncompensated, which amounts to $1,186 per family in California each year.

Helps explain part of why healthcare has increased over 100% in the last 20 years.
