Look into building a double fence. The old lady read that Deere have difficulty jumping two in a row. We plan on a fence around the Garden and then a 2nd one 6’ away around that. Going to have the chicken run in that area. It’s called a ‘chicken moat’. Supposed to help keep bugs population down in the garden. Who knows, but it’ll be interesting to find out.
Read up on the Mittleider method. That’s what we based this whole garden on. It also self waters. It takes 4 hours to water the whole garden and if one area looks a bit dry, I just start it up again. Next year I’m adding another zone. It was a lot of work up front, but then you just have to prune and pick the food. The sad thing is that I had 5 more of those metal beds that I didn’t get planted this year as I needed to get my chicken coop going.
Got 6 hives. This is our 4th year. Sell some and give some, but we eat way more than we used to. The wife has started cooking with that instead of refined sugar.
I’ve got 13 acres and most of it’s wooded. Tons of deer move through the place. If it really gets bad, we can eat that. Got Turkey and rabbits too although I think the wild rabbits probably don’t taste as good as home raised ones, but that is a good suggestion.
I’ve got to get the fence around the store and then build the guard towers….(hahaha)
Thanks, it was a lot of work, but it produced awesome. Best garden I’ve had in the 18 years I lived here. Put up green beans, peppers and starting tomatoes this weekend between finishing the chicken coop and inspecting the bee hives. My goal is to stay outa the stores as much as possible.
Did the same for both my folks who are 80+. My wife and I live in NY and my folks live in Idaho. Went there for two weeks and snuck in Ivermectin. They had told us to plan on a double funeral, but we screwed the hospital out of their bonus. Luckily they were never on a vent and mom only got one round of rendisver. Told my sister to not let them and they snuck one dose before she stopped it. I know that’s spelled wrong…. My saint of a wife stayed for two months helping both with rehab and getting back on their feet. But now two yrs latter they are doing pretty much what they were before. The government hates you and wants all of us dead.
