He was like a close relative I never met.

I truly believe he was considering a presidential run prior to being diagnosed. That would have been phenomenal.

In my life so far (37 years), I think I have experienced enough summers and winters to be able to tell that the world is not burning up. I remember one time in the summer of 1990 (or maybe it was ‘91) I was leaving the grocery store with my family, and at the other end of the parking lot there was a bank with a sign showing the current temp. It was 101 degrees out, which is high for Pennsylvania, and that moment was burned into my brain because when you are 7, 101 is a super big number and at the time it blew my mind. I think we had a drought that year too. So we have had hotter summers like that, but also some years that it stayed mostly in the 80s. We also had harsh winters, and milder ones, some with or without much snow.

So I think it’s ridiculous that when I turn on the radio and listen to the weather forecast in August or September and the temp reaches 90 or 95 degrees, they act like we are breaking a record. I think we had maybe one or two days last summer that got up into the 90s. Most of the time it’s in the 80s, which only really sucks when it’s humid. There are hot summers and cooler summers. There are a gazillion naturally occurring variables, including the number of sun spots on the sun, that can affect the weather.

I remember a college professor I had once trying to discourage this type of logic, basically by saying “just because you don’t notice it here doesn’t mean it isn’t happening in other places in the world.” What a load of bullshit. It’s called GLOBAL warming, right? Am I missing something? If the world were heating up wouldn’t everyone be affected?

Dumb question(s), but how would a state survive immediately after secession? It looks like Texas has most of what they would need, but would a state like Montana have the necessary resources to sustain themselves? Are there any limitations on what types of crops can be grown there? Would they be cut off from the remaining states in the US, in terms of goods and services? What about military defenses? If a state seceded you can bet my ass will be there, but I wonder about these things.

I live in Steeler country. People around here typically swap their outdoor Christmas decorations for Steelers flags, banners, yard signs, and other creative things. We were undefeated for weeks. Before the kneeling, a season like this would be a huge, huge deal. Not this year. Driving around I see almost no Steelers pride.

Yeah I’m not seeing anything particularly groundbreaking.

I meant to say in the title, can anyone confirm if this is legit?

I saw this too (the “burn it down” comments). I told my lib friend and he’s like “where are you seeing this”. They are literally blind with hate. They only see what they want to see.

Does anyone know if the phone call recordings he played in his YouTube channel were real? The ones where he claims to have been helped by the secret service.

I mean, wouldn’t CBS reporting on TDW just draw more people here who would find out their claims about us are false?

This is a word I never use. I have too much respect for women to call them that, even the ones I don’t like.

But this, this is different.

Edit: extra layer of sarcasm on the NYT comment. We all knew it was bullshit. We also know McConnell only does what helps himself.

I agree with this. Controlled opposition.

They have always cheated in certain counties, but just enough that it wasn’t noticeable (unless you were looking for it). If the race was close, they were using the same trick for years, which was to suddenly “find” ballots in a warehouse or something, and always have just enough to push them over. There is evidence of this in Philadelphia in the 2012 election for example where there was like 101% turnout or some nonsense like that, but Romney was such a shit candidate, I don’t think fighting it would have made much of a difference.

They really didn’t think Trump would win in 2016, and so they stuck with the routine they used in 2012, and it didn’t work. So 2020 I guess they figured they knew they’d get away with it even if it was blatantly obvious, so they doubled down on the cheating.
