FYI, I grew up in the 1980's. But I remember watching on TV the news from the Jimmy Carter presidency which was seemed horrendous to me (even if I didn't understand all of it as a pre-teen). Mass unemployment and high inflation, New York city was practically a war zone before Guiliani took over as mayor, Iran hostage crisis, the entire country was basically in a depression before Reagan. BLM, Black Panthers and Antifa were also running rampant with mass protests and riots. However President Reagan was vilified in the press just like President Trump. Over the last 3 years I have had a strange feeling of deja' vu as I remember and old quote, "History doesn't repeat, but it sure does rhyme"
Also, Chiang Kia Shek losing to the Communist Chinese Mao is a close second.
