Speaking of cultural pathologies, Germans have a tendency to want to systematize everything in a very mechanical way - it makes them excellent engineers, but for the love of God, keep them away from politics. Perhaps one of the few major political developments that came out of Germany that wasn't horrifyingly Orwellian was Westphalian Sovereignty.
