Sorry media, gonna have to come up with something better. Because guess what? EVERY OTHER COUNTRY IS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. And mind you, US hospitals were never overloaded. That was the metric we were measuring right? Remember, flatten the curve? I’m sorry that Trump handled it so well, and is now making you look like fools again.
If you have Twitter this needs to be a reply.
Well put. The line that is controversial is where he ambiguously says “there was a lot of push back”...ok, by whom? It could be Governors, businesses, Trump, or just public perception. And now it will be used against Trump to create division, which Fauci has said previously, has not been their relationship.
Like you correctly stated, this is why he shouldn’t be on TV.
Was thinking the same thing, and it’s because that’s exactly what will happen
I’ve seen the sniffing videos, his final form would have significantly more noses.
Probably not empty, just not the disaster the media is hoping for. Very manageable right now it seems
They will just do what they always do. Move the goalposts....say “yeah but, it was dangerous and caused shortages”. [insert unsubstantiated source for info]
Then we will find out there aren’t shortages, and it’s fine, then it will magically never be brought up again.
Under budget and ahead of schedule!
Streistrand effect. While it was the wrong decision by the Governor, she made people more aware of the treatment option by putting herself in headlines.
Coincidentally, deaths went down yesterday. Hope.
This is the strangest damn thing I’ve seen from our media to date. There is evidence, admittedly limited, that this works, is cheap, and has minimal side effects.
I understand wanting to do clinical trials, and they should absolutely be done, but the media is going out of their way to down play the effectiveness...it’s just crazy to me. I know they don’t like Trump, but I didn’t think they would go this far.
If this works at dropping the death rate by even 10% it will be worth doing, because guess what? We don’t have anything else right now.
And if this ends up being extremely effective, like dropping the death rate by a factor of 10, then not only will the media have lost all credibility, anyone that supports them going forward will as well, and Trump will be sitting in the White House for another four years.
Meanwhile the President was defending himself against a completely unnecessary impeachment trial.
Oddly enough, Trump and Patton look a lot alike.
Provided he quarantines himself directly after
Fauci is a doctor, he relies on testing and trials and hard science. I completely sympathize with his position.
BUT, we are desperate. On verge of a health and economic catastrophe that I’m not sure this country has ever seen.
Until we get a vaccine, this is the best bad option available, and so we take our shot. Fauci I’m sure knows this, but as a doctor he needs to be guided where the science takes him. And we need that voice.
It’s okay to take our shot, but at the same time rely on controlled trials to confirm the treatment works consistently.
Now we wait...
Without efforts to mitigate it yes, this is possible. I am a Trump supporter, but exponential growth is an unfortunate mathematical fact, and I love you guys here, but we need to wrap our head around that.
New cases are growing roughly 20% a day, meaning if there are 100 new cases today, there will likely be 120 new cases tomorrow (220 total for both days)
After 60 days, that 100 cases explodes to over 5 million new cases (100 x 1.2^60).
Now, this does not account for countermeasures or herd immunity, but it does show how fast it can grow.
The media sucks, it does. And what they’ve done to Trump, and Republicans in general is a disgrace. They have created a huge credibility gap and that is costing lives right now...But this is one issue that the warnings are accurate, and countermeasures will save lives.
Edit: I should add, as others have mentioned, the total number infected could hypothetically be that high...death rate is the unknown. I am very hopeful we will have a better treatment option in 8 weeks.
I take young children at 9 or less...It looks like 129 cases with one hospitalized in Spain, none under 9 years old died.
There was 1 death in the 10-19 year range, that must be what you are referring too. Although, I wouldn’t consider that young children. It’s possible that person could have even legally smoked.
If you are wondering like me, why azithromycin is helpful given it is an antibiotic and not anti-viral...antibiotics are often given to ventilator patients to prevent a secondary infection which can often happen due to the invasive nature of the equipment (tube down your throat).
I don’t know if this is the reason for the “A” treatment, there may be other interactions going on as well with the malaria drug, but I am hopeful this will indeed work. Would be a huge step in reducing fears and getting back to normal life.
I was originally critical of Trumps response, but I partly fell for the hype. The testing still bothers me, but that isn’t Trumps fault. His messaging was off at first, but I think he legitimately thought the virus was contained and was trying to prevent a panic...he is now controlling the situation extremely effectively.
I just can’t get over the way the media is responding. It’s horrifying. Their questions should be, “how can we help?”. Not how can we make Trump look bad.
Trump is flipping the script and even if the economy turns south, which I think is likely, the media is overreaching and will only help get him re-elected.
Where is this article from? Is he saying it’s because Italy didn’t want to shut down borders earlier?
Or life under the Green New Deal
Yes, this. Not joking at all, he should 100% be back in the administration.
Infection rate for children is definitely happening, but no one under the age of 9 has died, which is remarkable.
How very un-Karen of her
