That sub was the only subreddit I went to on Reddit for about 3 years (give or take) and I hated even doing that because it was on Reddit. I had already started building up other means to keep in touch with news away from the fake news so if it went down I would still have actual news to follow.

The Nazi party were socialist. But during WW2 the allies needed the USSR (sorry it's true sadly). But they didn't want people running around calling Germans socialists. As that would piss off the Russians and they would lose them as an ally. Even though the USSR had its own plans that envoled using the allies to weaken Germany so they could claim half of Europe at the time.
So the lie was built that the Nazi's were a far-right party. When they were anything but in terms of policy in Germany.
Then that lie basically was used after the war by socialist-leaning parties in Europe as propaganda. Modern socialism can trace its roots right back to that old breed of socialism that plagued Europe in the 1920s-30s.
