What they have to gain is power and influence with those who regulate markets. It’s the same story a thousand years old. A hundred and fifty years ago steel and oil magnates were doing the same thing, purchasing politicians with internal influence in the federal government to help them maintain or gain market share through government regulation. This is crooked business. The 8 years of obummer saw this kind of activity at a level likely never seen before. That crooked administration installed and fostered a federal government that made it known within the business community that if they (businesses) played ball (monetary kick backs, cultural war infiltration) then they would be given special favors in the market. environmental firms, big tech, government contractors, etc all benefited from this kind of shady dealing. Business is not inherently conservative, in a free and fair market they would be. It would normally be in a companies interest to vote and advocate for lower taxes and fewer regulations; but after nearly a decade of crooked obummer government, it was shown that sucking the butthole of progressive politicians would get businesses further than otherwise.
Wish I could feel this way about Texas, but Houston and Harris county are mega blue, and that’s not even considering the ocean of Insufferable leftist in Austin. I’m afraid that in my lifetime the state will flip. It will be however mostly due to a complete lack of immigration and lax voter protection. Republicans have allowed our state to turn purple because they are weak and fell asleep at the wheel.
