Well, I respectfully disagree. At my current job, if I was remaining here I would say "I am stepping aside.... (Insert Name) will be replacing me". If I were leaving I would say "I am stepping down as I have found a better opportunity elsewhere". I would not say "I am stepping aside as I have found a better opportunity". The implication is 100% different
