All the reasons you expressed, however you forgot the military. I was in the Marine corps, and over half the guys I went to boot camp with were Texans. When I served in Afghanistan, thousands of Texans kept watch over this iowa marine as I slept. When it came to fire fights the Texans were there, smiles on their faces. Texans make up a huge number in the armed services and could without a doubt hold their own.
