I grew up in the 80's and never heard a thing about female empowerment. There were female astronauts, doctors, lawyers, etc... I knew I could do whatever I wanted as a young girl. I watched my mom work hard and watched my parents love and respect each other. So I worked hard and got a great job. I love my husband and he respects me. We both earn money and share it equally. It wasnt until I turned 40 that I heard women are oppressed. Wtf? Oooook?? Its such bullshit and a slap in the face to my parents generation and my generation that all of a sudden were allowing this to be the story!

I agree with Dan Bongino.. state the facts and your goal is not to change the opinion of the person you are talking to but the bystanders. They are the ones who are most likely to hear and see the truth! Stay calm and rational. I've had the best luck stating, "Have you ever noticed that the ones who constantly claim to be so inclusive are the ones who criticize those with different opinions so harshly?" What a double standard!
