I wasn't aware of the Rowe story but was very aware at the previous city mismanagment. Comic levels of stupidity and corruption.
I may be wrong on the mayor being there but I did hear several city council members were there along with several key city department leaders. I also heard some other council members are calling for an investigation into who gave the standdown order.
Concur. I think I was more offended as a civil engineer than I was as a law abiding citizen.
Nope...there were city council work sessions planned and $ budgeted to remove the statue to another location...but there was a standdown order given tonight and that order will end up costing the city dearly.
Not legally...but the mayor and several city council folks were there and had the police stand-down.

I don't know...folks that have been fooled into believing something will hold on to that belief in the face of overwhelming proof to the contrary. They want to believe "orange man bad"...they have to, to justify their warped world-view. The other day, a "friend" from back in the day made a post to the effect that "imagine if we had a President that condemned nazis". I replied, "imagine the President said exactly that but people didn't go around pretending that he didn't" and quoted his exact words after C'ville. The response was that "he didn't really mean it". How do you reason with that thought process?

Same thing happening here in Virginia. Just got a robo call from Ralph "Coonman" Northam telling me I should vote absentee and I should use the disability option in order to qualify. I'd complain to my AG but he's also a liberal blackface practitioner and my complaint would immediately be shit canned.
Edit: Evidently, in VA, an executive order was issued that makes it OK to use the disabled or illness option to request an absentee ballot. Shenanigans I say!
If you are not a Japanese citizen, you better have a lot of yen in your pocket if you want to navigate their health care system. Doesn't matter what health insurance you have at home, they don't recognize it and won't treat you long term without cash.
