If the two are unrelated, then why would the IHME account for it in their model? I’m curious as to what you’re using as a measurement for social distancing effectiveness other than your not getting the virus?

Yes. The original model of 1-2M was meant to panic everyone. The effects of mitigation are moot. The virus had been in the US since Nov or Dec before governors started enacting their draconian and unconstitutional shut downs. And if it is person-to-person (unlike what the WHO advised) and that it is airborne (also unlike what WHO put out) then it is safe to assume that there are many more infected than previously thought. If that is the case, then many people are asymptotic and the mortality rate for this virus will plummet. Can’t have that. Gotta pump up those rookie numbers by adding-in Federally sanctioned “fluffing” of numbers bu adding suspected COVID cases and deaths.

I think they were counting on COVID-19 patients needing more of the equipment in the real hospital and so they would designate the real hospital as COVID-19 and treat non-COVID patients in the field hospital, which is a fully-functioning hospital minus the large equipment.
