I think because Joe is a known commodity. The DNC is fractured and the people who are in power in the partt dont want to risk it with some relatively new comer.
They are hoping that Biden can grab some Obama voters that didn't show up last time and that flipped to Trump in 2016 and that the progressives will hate vote Trump out. Im not sure how much control the establishment DNC has over the progressives atm.

Yeah the whole civil war thing is really annoying. Expecally because a lot of the time they use a definition of civil war so vauge and all encompassing that we are technically in a civil war every three weeks.

I remember a couple of years ago everyone said Trump kept Bolton around so he can play his 'im a madman' strategy while in negotiations with hostile countries. Then this last week even Dan Bongino is acting confused as to why Bolton was ever dragged along.
I think the DNC is hoping Biden will bring back some Obama voters who went to Trump last time while having the progressives hate vote against Trump.
Depending on how the next election goes Trump should go as far right as possible on a judge
