I think it is force of habit. The left bashed fox for so many years that mainline conservatives tend to identify with it. Us oldsters remember when only Fox news, Drudge and Rush were carrying the banner for us in the media. Now only Rush is still with us.
We always have to be evaluating, our leaders and our organizations. Loyalty is a fine thing but we must be loyal to our people first and anyone who forgets that doesn't deserve our loyalty.

The only reason to ever apologize to anyone is to repair a relationship when you've done wrong. If you didn't do wrong and you have no relationship to repair then an apology is just an admission of guilt to people who want to destroy you for their own entertainment. With the added problem that now you've alienated the people who would otherwise have defended you.
If the mob comes for you an apology won't save you. An apology just lets them destroy you inside and out and makes it that much harder for the next person to stand their ground.
