They were shoving people down the stairs, so we were mostly holding the line for the older folks to get the hell out of there. They were also throwing flashbangs into the middle of the crowd which is just asking for someone to get a piece blown off. I personally had to pick up an older lady and walk her down the stairs. It was kind of a shitshow.

I went with my husband and another family member. And I was up there fighting with the police. But regardless I felt the unity between all of us. Being there to be part of history. Being part of something that's much bigger and greater than yourself. Fighting for something you love and want to protect. That feeling is the best high I've ever had in my life.
