It’s a primitive engine design. It was originally an aircraft motor. (Think WW 1) The flywheel instead of crankshaft puts the cylinders directly in line on a motorcycle. (On a Sopwith Camel all the cylinders get airflow) So on a HD the #2 cylinder doesn’t get cooling airflow sufficient for high temp areas. It’ll seize on a sunny summer day in Phoenix. Yes it will. I learned this and much more the hard way. It was jokingly said one needed a pickup truck following riders to pick up the parts falling off the bikes. It’s not far wrong. Thus the reliance on “mystique” and appearance. I sold mine as quick as I could. It just wasn’t functional or reliable, despite spending $$$ on accessories and repairs and hours of detailing after every ride.
They photograph well. That’s the best thing about them. That and custom shops generating income from paint jobs etc.
Lesson: If you’re buying anything because of how you imagine others will regard you for using that product, reevaluate from a more reasoned perspective. Buyers remorse is not uncommon, and not just for scooters.
