YouTube is a treasure trove these days of how to's as far as learning guns goes as well. But figure out first... rifle or handgun and start from there

Honestly, look around in the shop, hold them get a feel, and find what speaks to you... for me I always had in my head what I wanted and went for that. Once you find your gun, learn gun safety before you go to a range, learn the norms to help you and everyone else out. Then, practice at home with no ammunition, learn the gun, how it responds, what each thing on it does... then go live ammo and just work on shooting.
