Not really. Here it’s a continental climate. The Red River Valley is the lowest point on the Great Plains. Just a magnet for oppressive heat. Kind of a perfect storm. South winds, lower elevation relative to everything around you, lots of high pressure systems sit on top of you for weeks.
Hell it was like 120 something in Seymour, Texas in the 1930’s. It hits 115 in my town almost every year. Had 100 straight days off 100 degree heat in 2011. Second hottest portion of the US after Death Valley.
