Even if your family is a bunch of liberal fags, they are still your family. Just don't fucking talk about politics. Be a good person. Find common ground. Good food (everyone loves food so this is the best one), travel, board games, classic literature, and art are all examples of stuff you can talk about besides politics. Trust me, if you prove to them you are an awesome person, when shit does hit the fan and they want someone to talk to about it, they will listen to you.
If you are going to talk politics, play it smart. You are not talking to a person, you are talking to programming. Don't blame them. It's like getting made at a kid because they don't know how to play chess. They never fucking learned so making them feel bad won't get them to want to play with you.
Play the question game and listen. You want to get someone to listen to what you have to say, they need to feel listened to and they need to feel like they reached the conclusion themselves. Start by asking questions. Ask questions that will get them to think about why they think what they think. "Why do you think lockdowns are a good idea?" Bullshit about stopping the spread "what do you think the other effects of lockdowns are? Should be something about hurting the economy "Do you think it is important to consider some people might be willing to take the risk of covid to work their job?" Be genuinely curious. Never accuse. Always say you are trying to understand.
Trust me, I have liberal parents who love me (although my grand parents and aunts and uncles are based AF) and have converted more people at work and in my day to day then I can keep track of. You need to be smart if you want to win more Patriots over
