What this is about is that much of what passes for ‘science’ in the earth and social sciences isn’t really science.
This is most true of ‘climate science’, where most of the published papers make claims based on massaged datasets that they don’t make available when they publish papers with their findings. This has allowed activist scientists to publish papers with alarmist claims, and no one can refute their data analysis because they don’t publish the data necessary to repeat their work. And in real science, work that isn’t repeatable .... isn’t science.
If the UN used this standard to publish the IPCC report on climate change, almost none of the claims in the report would be supportable.
