Been writing, recording, and editing on my own for about 12 years since I was 18 (with a long pause for lack of equipment and alcoholism), but I quit drinking and got my home studio set up. I’ve been avoiding record companies the whole time. They’re almost as bad as politicians. The only new and decent home recordings I have are this one and “Sweat Shop” (2019), but “House of Bongress” is my other political song. It was written in 2010 about the Healthcare Reform bill after Pelosi said “We don’t need to read the bill, we just need to pass it.” What an insufferable witch. How impressive this is depends heavily on whether that’s O’ahu, or any other island. O’ahu is So military and tourist heavy that it doesn’t really reflect Hawaii the same in those ways. *Speaking from four years of being stationed there, and my wife is Hawaiian and from O’ahu- she would agree. But Hawaiian’s for sure don’t like Ige, and the corruption was kind of shocking.
Quit in February 2018. Make sure you eat fruits and get enough natural sugar. When I quit, I learned on my own that drinking for an extended period makes your pancreas compensate by producing more insulin than it normally would. When you quit, your pancreas doesn’t just suddenly stop producing too much insulin which is why you can potentially go into a coma, have seizures or die (if you made it this far, no need to worry about that happening). That is also a huge part of what makes it so hard to quit. Getting enough sugar to compensate for the sudden lack of alcohol is one of the things that makes it so difficult to quit. Get sodas, strawberries, bananas, and some chocolates- and some new hobbies to fight the boredom! Do all the things you never made time for before. Best of luck, pede!
