Interesting theory - any documentation? Typically any fbi investigation has a chain of command with assignment dates, scope etc, learned this from IG reports. Any indication you have that it was backdated and not just legitimately going on then?
I don’t think you’re correct - the fbi has the hunter Biden laptop as early as spring of 2019 remember - so it’s quite plausible that they did have an investigation for the same purpose you suggest (sequestering truth/coverup) but no need to backdate because they had the laptop at that time
