You are only beholden to them if you choose to be. But like I said, I understand the position to not have ads and yes it could spell issues in the future, especially if they are the only revenue source and the site becomes to rely on it. But it can be done in a way that it is supplemental to fuel growth and stability.
That being said, the position to not have ads shows the integrity of the mods and I have no doubt donations will be sufficient to keep this up and running.
I understand the desire to not have advertising, BUT, I'd also love to see this community thrive and advertising could mean dedicated servers, staff to help you run the site, etc. It's a fine line for sure but something like what Crowder does (only working with companies that share similar values, etc.) could make sense.
So, put some damn My Pillow Ads on each page!
Well, if I sell at $20 I'll make something like $7,000... If I sell at $100 I'll make $37,000... so ~$30,000 could be the downside selling now. Even if it goes to $0 I only invested $700 or so, so my risk is minimal. Getting out too early can be just as bad as selling too late.
In a similar boat. I bought AMC at $2.13 a week or two ago, purely speculative on my part, it was at a low point and I figured with COVID restrictions easing it was a long term bet that it would go up... but I was not expecting a jump like this.
Now I am in the position of wondering when to sell. I originally had an order to sell at $20 but cancelled it. I've seen some saying hold till next week, after the GME stuff dies down, but not sure. I don't think it will do what GME did by any means, but I have heard some say $100 is possible.
I'd love for that to be the case... but you are the minority on here. This site needs to survive regardless of the outcome. Just pushing away anyone that doesn't believe this is all part of the plan still and that Trump is going to expose all of the deep state at the last minute is going to kill this site. We should not be like the leftist that say believe everything I believe or be silenced.
I want to say he's trying not to do what he called out the left for over the last 4 years... that is jumping on to every conspiracy without any evidence... but yes calling out Sidney Powell was BS and he should have done better.
Reminds me of 2016. Hillary makes a last minute stop to Michigan on election night. So does Trump. Reporters are mocking Trump with, "why is he bothering in Michigan, he is so far behind". as I sit there and say to myself, well then why the hell is Hillary there??? Hillary knew it was a toss up state, and so does Biden. They know the polls are wrong.
Costco is a good company, pays its employees very well. Yes they fall into the same woke BS as others, but that is literally every company these days. I get the desire to boycott, but if I did that for every company that pushes some of this leftist crap, I would not have a phone to use, wouldn't be able to watch TV, couldn't listen to music, couldn't go to most stores, couldn't go to a lot of restaurants. My advice, pick the ones that are most offensive to you personally. If Costco falls into that category because of how they handled this situation, then that's your call. But just know, the replacement you choose may be just as bad if not worse (i.e. swapping Apple for Microsoft).
Unfortunately not much choice in Michigan anymore. Where I live half the stores was mask less until Gretchen's latest order. Now, there is security at the door. And as much as I don't want to wear a mask, I'm not going to be a dick to employees that are forced by the Government to enforce it. Especially the small businesses. So I have caved. I do feel really bad for the employees and business owners put in this position and for the people that really can not wear a mask and get dirty looks (or worse) for it. Luckily I am not far from Indiana so I can still get down there now and then to enjoy dangerous activities such as bowling or shopping in a gas station without a mask.
So obvious, was first thing I thought when I read that...
