Yep. The goal of butterfly pull-ups is to complete the required reps in a small amount of time. Personally, I don’t want to risk my shoulders so I stick to strict. However, I am constantly beaten by people that kip or butterfly their pull-ups. There is some point to the movement when it comes to the competitive aspect of CrossFit.
