I think many are in denial. They can't handle the idea that a virus would be released on the world intentionally. That their own governments (and media) would conspire to lock its people in their homes, ruin their economies, etc.
They'll just reinstate them before the midterms " by mistake".

Getting rid of onerous overtime pay/ regulations would be a better way for people to increase their take-home. Taxing workers (and employers) extra if they choose to work more is bullshit and counterproductive.

And (based on this hearing) congress doesn't think they are doing enough.
These hearing do nothing but demonstrate that these tech oligarchs can do whatever they want and no one will do anything about it.
