I actually figured out the behaviour a long time ago, when I used to blog. During the 2006 war between Israel and Hezbollah, the media lies were so obvious and comical that I sat down and after thinking it through one night, realised that evidence doesn't matter because the important point for them was to believe the accusation was true because this confirmed what they already believed.
